agree on ISIS being the superior band hands down but hard disagree about Tool's recent live shows, they are an absolute treat to see. Idk what you mean by energy, I guess they're not like thrashing around and going bonkers while they play, but the performance is still strong as fuck and the light show is great, maynard usually does some goofy moves, Adam and Justin might be a little shoegazy but for god sakes, do one drugs and just feel the music and get lost in those lasers. Also the drums hit completely different when you can fully feel them in your chest and Danny does a good bit of improv live, absolutely worth seeing. It was only like 100 bucks for mid level seats with good visibility last couple times and absolutely worth it. I may have been on a decent amt of LSD one of the 2 times but the sober time was also very good.

they were awesome when i saw them on the aenima tour. not so much when i saw them a few years ago. i’m sure the venues had something to do with it though.

venue can absolutely make or break a show. it's heartbreaking and frustrating to watch bands play at disorganized venues with poorly run sound

Venue definitely matters, I also just don't go to many big arena sit-down shows and I always have different expectations for those than a 30$ GA show.
A Tool crowd is also probably the most wildly mixed bag I've ever seen.
I saw them in 06 for 10k days Tour and then another 3 times in a pretty short span between like 2017-19 just because they kept coming through and my buddy kept getting tickets for p reasonable and it was good every time just insofar as the band all played their parts very solidly, the sound was very beeg and clear, a good mixed setlist (although a bit samey across those 3 shows which spanned pre and post FI release but all had FI songs) and great visuals.

"Tool and Isis are about equal in goodies"
Wrong. These guys obliterate any shred of relevance that ISIS wishes they had

Tool hate is demonstrably self-hate.
Take Johnny, he is basically indistinguishable from Tool. Same cultural background, same political attitude, same gender, same demonology, same everything, really. The biggest difference is musical skills.
An alien who could only see information would not be able to tell them apart.

Lump me in with Californian boomers unsuccessfully striving to camouflage their mediocre perm-angst through Beatles-level pinup spirituality one more time, and I'll relocate your jaw to the floor of the goat enclosure so we can find out whether your own kind has as few qualms about eating absolutely fucking anything as pigs (which I'm sure the aLIeNs your Alernative Science And Mindfulness blog told you about would say are virtually equivalent to goats anyhow)
