@MoM: if they're just sitting there minding their own business and aren't going out of their way to bully people that's one thing.

a lot of them I've seen go out of their way to be self-righteous about what they dislike to the point where they do in fact bully people for liking something different so it's usually them just going mask off about the attitudes that permeated metal for a long time. it's less people here and more people in metal groups on other sites.

toxic masculinity is a real issue in metal and elsewhere, and it's not hard to see why when the people that propagate it continue to get a free pass. one does not simply, completely turn a blind eye to that kind of toxicity and not expect someone to raise their eyebrow at that.

Our species has a lot of potentialities, as we all know, and are hard to be predicted because of exponentially growing cause and effect branches and history and not knowing all of it and all. It’s hard. I prefer to just keep an eye out, street smarts, but not the gossipin and such

@mom: definitely requires a lot more than i'm mentally capable of comprehending at times. all i know is it tracks if i find out someone who's been bullying and dehumanizing me and shit is say, a hardcore Pantera fan. Bc Phil Anselmo enabled that kind of personality trait.

@MoM: my guess is it's a mix of both. Whatever it is, Anselmo didn't help.

@drifter: in this era of the internet you have to be accountable for everything you ever say or do and we are all human and imperfect but social media and society as a whole expects perfection of us. If someone is being lied about in a serious manner that could have serious ramifications on their livelihood and career.

Of course it's better than everyone being allowed to just willy nilly abuse people and say bad things with no consequences but surely there should be a middle ground to let people just relax and not have to be on their guard all the time.
