I liked them, except for their death metal influences. Otherwise, they sounded pretty sweet.

Okay, I'll spell out what I like and what I don't like (or will ever like). I like screaming I can understand best (Mudvayne, Demon Hunter, All That Remains, and Slipknot are good examples). I can deal with Post-hardcore and Metalcore (Like Jamies Elsewhere, TDWP, and blessthefall). I don't like high pitched screaming (such as what Maniac showed me, Zao, Living Sacrifice, or Old Haste The Day). I also don't like deep screams like death metal. (closest example I have are the deep pitched screams in "Indiction", "The Weak Willed", and "Become the Catalyst" by All That Remains). Get my musical tastes now?

but the dm vocals are mostly growls

Yes, they are, but I can understand every word he says and enjoy his growling. They also got me into stuff with screams in the first place so I have major respect for them. They sing a lot as well. A better example of what I don't like is TDWP deep growls in the Zombie EP (even though I deal with it). I like that EP, but that's the deepest stuff I can tolerate.

i mean fuck it's not even a growl

It's more of growled speaking. DH is barely metal. And some genres contain both what I do and don't like. If I said "I like Metalcore", than you would assume I like Zao, TDWP, As I Lay Dying, blessthefall, and Living Sacrifice. I don't like some of them because of their vocals, even though they are in the same genre.

and why are you moaning about harsh vocals in a GY!BE thread!?

These people are giving me suggestions to deepen my musical taste. They keep suggesting stuff with harsh vocals and don't get why I don't like em.

Neurosis sounds... different. I'll look into them more later. At least the vocals sound more my style.
