Even though I am no fan of Heritage, they're right.

Axe's drums sound gorgeous on Watershed, and his performance is really good. On heritage he delves more into the jazzy realm, which I love. His drumming on Nepenthe is stunning, especially the subtle sections

Dude Omair YES
Those ghost notes in between the light guitar sections are just bliss.

It's been a few pages since Aiwaz has declared this album a piece of shit. It's throwing off my circadian rhythm.

It can't be true, he's probably just not using the site. How would one know this was the case? Does he have real life friends that use this place for instance?

As for this album, tonight may be the night... I'm sure you're all dying with excitement at the anticipation of my inevitably transcendent musings. Stay tuned folks.

"Is that true?"
Ofc not, I just have a terrible sense of humour.
Suicide/not posting, you can't tell the difference.
But I wouldn't be completely surprised.

This is probably (most definitely) a discussion for another time/place but this just reminded how much I despise the term 'committed suicide'

I couldn't agree more with the comments about the Axenrot's drumming. While Lopez was a great drummer on the middle records, Axenrot is much more interesting, tight, and has been the centre of the last three albums. Watershed was profoundly better in every possible way though, and the fact that he mixes the jazzier style with death metal makes it his best performance with the band. Even if it wasn't with Opeth, I would love to hear him do another death metal album for this reason.

Axe played only one metal Opeth record so it's not really fair to say, but to me Lopez's performance on Ghost Reveries outshines Axe's on Watershed. his drumming on Heritage is just on another level tho. he had much more space on it to go wild and showcase all of his talent unlike on WS where you're a bit constrained by the more tighter style of songwriting. Lopez got more comfortable with that style over the years so he learned how to implement all of his skills and creativity while still being really tight and hard-hitting. they're both awesome drummers, Axe is probably more technically proficient, but they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Axenrot is insane there's no disputing that, especially on Heritage. But I guess I'm a purist cause I still prefer Lopez. He was such a core part of Opeth.
