Haha! Well, those are the best on other days for sure. But this is the one for me today.

I think my 'problem' with this is it's so professional. The older albums have more soul and mystery.

@Egarran: I can see that. Both Morningrise and MAYH have this super weird quality, you can't ever put your finger on it. Almost religious, mysterious is a good word for it yeah.

But this is just so amazingly put together. Man. And still brings the feels hard. It has less of that sense of mystery, that is true. But to me it feels completely right, like it has to be so.

Yeah OK I'll up my rating for you, handsome ❤

When I was a noob 'nikker I felt I had to distinguish a band's albums with different ratings. But now I'm l'm considering if that is too nerdy.

I get what you mean. That is why I don't rate classical music here, even though I listen to it a lot. Just don't think I can compare it with the other scores, it would make everything weird.

yeah i dropped this to a 4.5 because it doesn't really bring the feels to the same degree as all my Opeth 5's for me haha

This is Opeth at the absolute top of their game. Songwriting and composition, Akerfeldt's singing and growling, everyone's playing, production.

Isolation Years might be their most under appreciated song.

[2] [2] and [2] especially ''Hours of Wealth tho''. My god. That track.

Album blows me away.

I can only think this doesn’t get the same praise as a few of their earlier releases because of the whole ‘they’ve done this before’ argument. Yeah so what, it’s nothing particularly groundbreaking for the band, by my word is it refined.

When it's late night and you're driving home and Isolation Years comes on through shuffle. True enlightenment is attained
