I always loved the guitar picking at the end of 'Jeremy'. One of my favourite endings to a song.

Grunge is a bad tag, tbh. I"d always say these bands belong in the alternative spectrum of their respective genres (Nirvana to rock, AIC to metal, etc).

The bass in 'Jeremy' is too good. Beautiful playing at the very end. Those instruments blend so beautifully together.

An album that was a fundamental cog within the final bastion of something truly representative of teen anger, confusion isolation and resentment.
Next up My Chemical Romance and all that nonsense which gave birth to the fanny.

If you think Pearl Jam's angst was any less market-tested and superficial then MCR's was then I suggest you remove your nostalgia goggles. Both bands were perfectly serviceable guitar pop for their respective generations.

honestly the PJ documentary was incredible and showed the community and spirit behind the whole scene, think you're being a little cynical
most of PJ had done their time in dead end bands just playing the local scene, never would have known the things were about to explode in popularity and none of the 90s bands had the media training and degree of marketing saturation that people like MCR no doubt had/have
they might have thought this album would be a bit more successful than Mother Love Bone but I doubt they'd have known it would end up one of the biggest albums of the 90s
