Atari: It will grow on you for sure. Some of the longer and slower tracks require a bit of patience, but once they click you'll be hooked.

@lt it's mike kinsella we're talking about. pulling a refused is an impossibility although the album (if it's gonna be recorded in the first place) will be completely different than this, especially from the lyrical standpoint

I wasn't huge on owls... Seemed like they kinda had Joan of Arc syndrome.

Although Tim's foundational songwriting style that has become his signature on every JoA record is certainly present in Owls, there's so much credit that has to be given to the unique styles of each member: both Victor and Sam are extremely innovative on their respective instruments, and Mike is both intriguing and effective as this strangely simplistic player operating within a challenging distortion of the traditional rock framework. How they all come together is even more awe-inspiring; they're a real musical unit. I guess what I'm trying to say is Owls certainly resembles JoA but it doesn't take much to recognise it as moreso its own extremely unique entity.
