this is a bit better than i remember it, love hospital for souls. they were always good at the longer post-rockish tracks. wish they did it more.

this album aged perfectly for me, and yah the post-rockish tracks rule
i feel like there are so many things I love now that i can trace back directly to this album, it's clearly stuff that influenced BMTH here

i've always loved this but returning to this after a post-rock and idm binge is wild tho
to me it's like i can pinpoint where certain elements came from to create this package, the ambient leads feel straight out of an explosions in the sky/god is an astronaut album (members of Immanu El even have vocal credits on about 5 songs here) while the electronics and ambient pads almost kinda sound like the band subconsciously had aphex or autechre in mind and found a way to channel that while keeping their core edge
it's really funny how when you expand on what you listen to, then come back, those subtler moments just kinda pop out more than they used to

Peak BMTH, no idea why they felt the need to destroy their band after this record.
