nah it's thrash riffs like 99% of other metal those two actually show some composition

Yeah, the song could be so much worse than it is due to it's repetition but the main riff is so good I just wanna hear it more.

if you're listening to metal for ~composition~ you are going to be sorely sorely sorely sorely disappointed.

i listen to metal for fun like rym listens to meme rap and pop for the most part (hence my abundance of metal 2.5s and 3s), but there are some artists (or in this case some songs) that show some structure that is worth appreciating

I think it's silly to retrospectively rate an album compared to another. I just don't get it when people say "ugh this album is shit because it's not as proggy as BTBAM" well like no shit it predates BTBAM by 20+ years. Having preferences is totally cool but you gotta judge an album on its own merits.

I was making my own point. It's shit like this that irks me, like when I'm talking to people about Radiohead who say "yeah I skipped Pablo Honey because I hear it's not as good as the rest". Pablo Honey is a great album, it is a pity for its own sake that it is amateurish compared to what came after, but that is more a testament to Radiohead's brilliance rather than PH's (perceived) mediocrity

i dont think anyone disagrees with you too much there, parks. also, pablo is just a bland album. like, ignoring the rest of their discography doesn't help that album out for me
