Depends on your own definitions, but generally, yeah I’d say so

you know i can appreciate this album for not being afraid to get weird
especially for it being their sophomore album, ballsy honestly.

"title track is dope as fuck"
thank god someone said it. that has always been my favorite track here but nobody ever agrees. you'll never see a numetal band make a 15 minute atmospheric track like that anymore. this shit was unique.
and yeah the lyrics mostly aren't great, but then again, pick any death metal band and their lyrics are dumb too except you just can't decipher them most of the time so they don't jump out at you as much.

I love the lyrics, pure raw hatred and darkness, but still with a decently vocabulary of words that most people would still have to look up.

in fact, the vocals and lyrics and my favourite part about this album / slipknot / metal in general tbh

Album Rating: 4.5
I think I prefer his lyrics on the first two than everything after tbh. Think Corey can get a little too lyrical miracle on the newer stuff and it kinda takes me out of it.

I love the lyrics to New Abortion. As someone who grew up in a buttfuck nowhere place similar to Iowa, I really relate to how small towns end up closing off people’s future.
The lyrics to Gently are also really brutal and oddly beautiful in a weird way? “That’s life”
|
| |
Yeah that build-up and release in Gently is pretty outstanding
