Still don't get how ToT is rated so high on here.
DT are at their worst when they choose to go down the heavier route.

Train of Thot is full of great songs, that's why I like it. Good songs and good hooks, a more stripped back approach after Six Degrees, there are lots of reasons. But generally DT are at their best when they are melodic. Their riffs simply aren't the best out there, it was always melody that made them stand out

Train of Thought is awesome. Some cringeworthy moments in there but there's also a lot of great, epic songwriting

Okay so I don't really get the album art tbh, my guess is the kid is Portnoy and he's looking into heaven to his dad, and the planets, art canvas, and elephant statue are all things that Portnoy's dad really loved when he was alive, or am I wrong?

Either way, I do love this artwork, more so the color scheme than anything else, it fits the album's music perfectly, and idgaf if y'all don't like it

Yea, Awake and Six Degrees. And Train of Thought. And this. Oh well.

I agree that Dream Theater are at their best when they tone it down.
I wouldn't consider Awake a 'heavy' album. My favorite moments are Voices, Lifting Shadows, and Space Dye. Blind Faith, Misunderstood, Disappear, and the suite are my faves on 6 degrees. Train Of Thought ranks near the bottom of the discog for me, even though it is a good record.
Their best music is when it's patient and has room to breathe...

That's fair imo, they're riffs aren't that good anyway. It's everything around the riffs most of the time
