I love how The Sheltering Sky sounds like a lost Pat Metheny track in places.

Can't get into the bookends but other than that this album is really great.

That's interesting to me, because the title track is the one that first drew me to this album. Do you know what you dislike about those two?

I don't dislike them but I feel like they don't arrive to any particular destination which gives me a bit of a hard time because they open and end the album.

I get that, actually. In that way, they do differ from the other tracks.

I admire this album for, as even the title suggests, it's mostly an exercise in rigid calculations. The equipment is experimental and the music can be seen as a case study in ostinato, this is arguably as progressive as it gets.
