it's the dichotomy of JDB singing Richie's words, James was fired up but I don't think he was depressed, certainly not as much as Rich seemed to be

for what it's worth I think they did a good job of keeping this kind of combination up even after RE disappeared, but I haven't heard the last couple of albums
