the reason thats true is bc its usually one of the first extreme metal/hardcore albums people hear on account of it being so iconic. like obviously if the heaviest thing youve heard is every time i die or some shit, ur not gonna "get" this right away

yeah first time i listened to this i was 12 i think and all i liked was metalcore and this is considered one of the best metalcore albums of all time so i gave it a spin and hated it. heaviest thing i'd heard up until that point was probably of mice and men

nah but in all seriousness this was a different kind of heavy first time i listened.
i wasn't a stranger to 'heavy' music as i was pretty much exclusively a deathcore kid so it wasnt the heaviness that turned me off to this more the abrasiveness.
so i guess in a way this was the heaviest thing i had heard at the time. not heavy in the way that extreme metal is. in your face, abrasive, loud heavy.
