i've been watching The Shining recently while reading this really cool narrative analysis of it, definitely one of the densest films I've ever seen.

Lol dude there would be no Lecter series without Lecter, of course Hopkins is in it

In fact I'm pretty sure he has more screentime in Red Dragon than he did in Silence of the Lambs

And no I haven't watched Se7en I've been too busy watching the Wire off the request of some dickhead I can't remember

yeah dude that is a deadset embarrassing oversight by myself, I should really get more sleep. he was only in SOTL for like 24 minutes or something, supposed to be the shortest time spent of screen that has ever won a best actor oscar

well the wire > everything in existence obviously so no harm there, finished season 1 yet?

I think he's in Silence for even less than 20 minutes so yeah, that's one of my biggest problems with that movie and I think they remedied that in Red Dragon

Nah I think I'm about 7 or 8 episodes in now, it's starting to pick up

Ok sweet. Oh nice, the wheels should definitely be set in motion. It is the only show I;ve ever seen in which the second viewing was actually better than the first time round. There are so many small details and minor incidents with major implications that is just impossible to completely wrap your head around it the first time round. Plus, that way you don't have to go through the whole "learning curve" that most new viewers experience.

It certainly seems that way

I read about it that each series focuses on a different aspect of society, like they're not all about the drug trade...does that mean there are different main characters in each season?

Each season uses a different police investigation as a backdrop for the shows various social commentaries, so McNulty, Bunk and Co. will always be around. But yeah, there is a massive array of vastly important character still yet to be introduced. I've never seen a show with an ensemble cast of that magnitude, although I've never seen a show with the immense scope of The Wire. Season 2 will be the biggest shock as it very nearly completely back flips on the setting of the first season and a lot of people don't enjoy it as much at first, but in hindsight it's close to the best season. Enjoy the ride man.

Sweet that's good to know

Bunk is such a good character

The "fuck" conversation at the crime scene is just too funny
