I dunno I kinda see what Noctus means, the instruments in the climax don't seem 'grand' enough, for lack of a better word. But it's still enough for me I guess.

It's Agalloch, there isn't much grand about them. Just nice, gentle songs.

I liked the production on Marrows a great deal...it's too bad the songwriting wasn't up to snuff. It had great atmosphere.

I disagree, listen to In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion or The Hawthorne Passage and tell me that they aren't grand.

I have. Many times. Big ex-Agalloch fan here.

Not hating on the songs, because they are good songs, but they feel brittle...but that is Agalloch's thing.

I know what you mean about some of the songs yeah, but I think the ones I just mentioned are a bit bigger than that. But hey your opinion I guess, how come you're not much of a big Agalloch fan anymore?

I don't know, exactly. To say I grew out of them is probably way too unspecified. I mean, I'm not a metalhead any more, but there are quite a few metal band favourites that I return to so I'm guessing I just don't take much from Agalloch's music any more? Maybe. I just can't "feel" or connect with them as much as I used to and that probably has something to do with my growing exposure to other styles of music. Back then, Agalloch was the bee's motherfuckin' knees.

I went to their show here in the city, recently. The venue's poor sound (songs sounded the same and underpowered) didn't help
