great stuff, but I wish we got something a little more different from them, starting to sound a bit too samey for me.

Almost a month has passed and I'm still listening to this every couple of days. I agree that it can be a bit "samey" at times, but so is Diamond Eyes and that's a fucking bop too

Its kinda funny this album has gotten progressively worse the more I listen to it. This should be nowhere near a 4, maybe slightly above Gore.

nah, it being “samey” is fine. It’s only 40 mins. And you’re really gonna sit here and try to tell me that infinite source sounds like ~metal dream which also sounds like departing the body?
If you mean samey in the context of their entire discography… fine. Okay, they’re not breaking a lot of new ground here, but that doesn’t really change the fact that this is the most consistently great set of songs they’ve dropped in damn near 15 years. It’s very impressive in any context but even more so when you remember that these guys have been going at it for THREE DECADES and haven’t been reduced to a legacy act.
Legitimate argument for these guys being the best 90’s band thats still going.

Agree with this. It was great but wore off fast for me. Spun it for a week and then just haven’t felt like returning to it. Downgraded my rating from 4.0 to 3.5

Gore is great
private music is still crazy good to me. last.fm shows i've listened to the whole album roughly 14 times since it released.

Lmfao rofl, Gore fucking sucks. Chino’s voice sucks, lyrics suck, and production sucks. It almost killed their critical darling reputation. I would rather listen to Adrenaline. Lol

Gore has some of their best tracks ever on it, but also some of their most uninspired.
People hating on Private Music but loving Diamond Eyes is so fucking weird to me. Departing The Body alone shits on most of the tracks on DE

Saying "I would rather listen to Adrenaline" like it's the lesser of two evils is wild. They're still closing shows with Engine 9 and 7 Words cuz they go hard.
Gore is a mixed bag if anything.
PM just plays it safe. Couldn't imagine saying the music is "bad".

Yeah I was saying their best since koi, possibly diamond eyes…but ultimately I’d place koi over this slightly. This is more consistent but koi has more all timers/higher highs (leathers, tempest, rosemary, entombed).

But Koi is my favorite, those highs are career highs. Rosemary, Tempest, Entombed, and Goon Squad would all land in my top 10 from these guys

In the camp of Gore rocks. It’s just one of their lesser works, but still a great album.

Came back after cool off to reevaluate, it's the kind of album I can play during a workout and not mind -- that's the best I can muster here. Rare to be this disappointed by a favorite band.
Hat tip to those who still back it, though!
