The whole album is about overcoming his generational trauma for his kids, it's one of his most direct albums. He couldn't come to terms with helping his culture heal without healing himself. Its more low key in terms of beats but it absolutely fits the themes he's going for. More personal than trying to do it big like on GNX.

I just don’t really agree tbh, dude is prob goated maybe even for GKMC and TPAB alone but Morale and this are great. The only one I ever found underwhelming was DAMN, but tbf I think pretty much anything coming off of TPAB would’ve felt underwhelming.

And obv Untitled Unmastered is amazing too.

DAMN is the album id say is the album people say MM is. The narrative goes in crazy directions and themes that don't sit as tightly weaving in a satisfying way any of his other albums do. That one is his weakest effort, even though Kendrick himself said it's his favorite.

nah cotton, not biting

it's still kinda ridiculous to me that his last 3 records have the same rating here while being so wildly different to one another in almost every sense

Crazy that he's 6 albums in his career and 3.7 is the LOWEST he goes. OD is even a 3.6

GNX and DAMN. are his most listenable albums for me. TPAB is unquestionably a classic, but it's so heavy that I can't exactly throw it on whenever. Morale is fantastic to me, but obviously not at that level

I don't think he ever intended for Morale to be that commercially viable with the exception of a few songs. TPaB is kind of the same way but in a different way if that makes sense. The superbowl tracklist kind of sealed it for me he knows what most people want to hear. He has his conscious albums/tracks and his bangers.

@cotton you'll never convince me to care about GOD. or LOVE.

Damn, you spittin now. Studio version of i is the stupid version lol.

Man, i just listened to the studio version and it seems so deflated in comparison. The album version feels like such a crescendo moment the studio version just doesn't conpare.
