Nah, this clears Hardwired. That one’s just watered-down slog, even James sounds annoying there. Here every song is boring in its own right, but they're catchy and energetic enough.



Death Magnetic was their last truly great album anyway.

I'm shocked that an album with that artwork is bad.

Hardwired is mostly boring but it has atlas rise, moth into flame, and spit out the bone which are all better than anything here

I have no idea what people see in Moth Into Flame, it’s among the most boring songs of the first half to me. The only parts of Hardwired that I find genuinely great are Spit Out the Bone and Halo on Fire, and only the former is a higher peak than anything on here. This whole album shits on the previous one.

Yeah moth, spit, atlas rise, etc etc. All better than anything here those 3 tracks alone make that a stronger album. Who 4's this lol ? Metallica has been my favorite band for 15+ years since I was 16 and this is the most mid shit ever

Yeah completely agree, if hardwired was them on autopilot for about half of it, this is entirely passive. They were basically sleeping when they wrote and recorded this shit



Like, the performances are obviously fine but there isn’t an original idea anywhere here. You can probably literally guess when the tempo will change and what the next riff will sound like… I dunno there’s just absolutely nothing exciting here.



And I say that while Hardwired was saved by Spit Out The Bone, without that track it would just be two nothing albums in a row over the course of almost a decade

This album reminds me of the later career ACDC albums lol. Old guys Just pumping something out by the numbers you know what your getting at this point just the same tired fan service easy listening but rehashed mid album that Walmart will stock the shelves with. And you give it a spin and not expect much because it's Metallica and acdc lol like it's not terrible but that's the best thing you can say about it.
