This is one of those albums that I can just put on and let it play. There's no bad songs.

This one definitely grew on me. Still think it kind of wears out its welcome towards the end but there's a lot of great stuff here. Even the mixing grew on me

Actually the back half is stronger... Had it All, Savage Lands, Gobblers and Serpents are so good. Definitely goes to a more introspoective side but its too damn good.

this has grown on me a bit more since its release, but i still maintain it's far too long and some of the writing is a little samey

More Than I Could Chew could be the greatest song they've ever made.

It seems that this is their best album since Crack the Skye. Will definitely check out.

I'd say... It took a couple spins. I was acclimated to the immediacy of their last few albums. As triple D said, it's more introspective. It's awesome.

Mastodon's "Hushed and Grim" is a beast of an album. Their first double LP, and I certainly don't see it being their last 2LP either. The album is both a step forward and a step back, in a sense. They've reached into their more progressive roots and expanded upon their brilliant songwriting capabilities. It's heavy, it's proggy, it's Mastodon.
