Like many, they where my gateway band (since debut), big time, but it has been a downhill after Paul and Joey (hard RIP) parted ways imo

I just find them unsatisfying to listen to after Iowa... i feel like I get blue balls… I want them to go a little bit heavier or darker or faster or more melodic or something but besides from a few moments here and there they just remain this mid tempo fairly intense but still widely accessible style with predictable riffs and vocals that feels a bit flaccid.

Vol. 3 was arguably their best balance of melody with some raw edge imo, but they did slump for a long time until this record. They sounded completely rejuvenated, firing on all cylinders. Unfortunately, though, outside of the self-titled, I find myself coming back to this band less and less. Probably because I can't stand Taylor and Clown anymore, along with Paul Gray and Joey no longer being with us. Always looking forward to hearing more stuff from them, though, no other band sounds like *Slipknot* to me.

The chorus sucks. The rest sounds like s/t meets Vol.3 with some post-AHIG moments. I wish they didn’t feel the need to try and force a clean chorus in every song nowadays.
