"what does Zak think about this record"
Take a guess.

Is this actually that good or is it the swan song factor
|

i'm fine with quiet, it's nice sometimes, but I just found those straight boring. The first song could've used more variation but the overall sound had promise. second song was borderline bad on the first listen, third and 4th were straight boring, logic/teeth was alright but had that other vocal part about fish? that was silly and took me out of the song. 137 is back to pretty boring again.
maybe it'll be a grower for me; these are just my first impressions. I really don't see how people were giving this a 5 on first listen, but it is brand new

Hi everyone! I have been reading Sputnik for years now, but registered just to comment on SF.
To say that BN is my favorite band would be an understatement. I have grown and matured with those guys and thus I was awaiting this album - just like most of you.
In my opinion, it is a very good (maybe even excellent) album. It shows maturity of BN members - both as people and musicians. However, I am not sure if it is a BN album. I hear Modest Mouse-like notes (Same Logic) and there's a bit of darkwave (Lit me up - perfect song btw) and a bit of Tom Wait's kind of blues and many of early Manchester Orchestra notes also.
It feels like a great indie music; however, I was waiting for another emo album. I understand that hysterical emo of TDAGARIM days no longer suits Jesse, but emo is a rich genre and I am sure the band could have evolved in that direction. It didn't though. It wasn't their album I would be disappointed but after all the drama we have seen I am (quite) happy with what I got.
I have only one regret – that I haven’t had a chance to attend their gig.
Ah and:
TDAGARIM>Deja entendu>Daisy>SF>YFW

I don't get the infatuation with Deja either. The only song that even really caught my attention and made me hit repeat was the quiet things that no one ever knows

Welcome but I disagree with those "it's good but it doesn't really sound like them" comments in general for just about anything

This cover is not so iconic as the TDAG one but is petty damn good too

Daisys average is criminal

i agree, Daisy is criminally underrated in general. better than TDAG in my honest opinion.
