I actually didn't like this album when I first streamed but now that I'm listening to it proper with on my Teufel sound system I'm liking it more and more.

Don't know how more fans are not comparing this to CtS honestly. It's basically CtS (both emotionally and sound-wise) + some of the later direction (I don't like to call it "pop Mastodon" because CtS is the beginning of poppier Mastodon to begin with) + a newfound sludgy edge and a few psych/trippy/acid elements.

Also the band sounds very tight and motivated to be creative in this one. The direction is right, I'm curious to see what they can do next. Clearly I don't expect another This Mortal Soil but then again who was expecting Jaguar God?

I only hear a bit of CtS on here honeslty. Nowhere near as much as some of the singles led me to hope for.

Andromeda was really the only one that gave me some hope.

If these guys can still write songs like Jaguar God, Sultan's Curse, Roots Remain, and Andromeda, my interest will never fade away.

Ancient Kingdom is the clear standout for me. But Jaguar God is really good too especially. The part where it speeds up is dope.

"Ancient Kingdom" is such an emotional song. Especially given the context, that chorus just soars.
