Having on similar bands Agalloch as first choice on NO's profile is completely bizarre.

Not a lot of Cascadian folk bm influence on this one but to each their own!

black-ish metal with long multi-part songs, acoustic guitar segments, and prominent clean male vocals
they may be very different but I love them both so works for me

Tbh I think Citadel veers closer to melodic dm than it does black metal. If we're talkin' Portal of I tho then maybe you could make the stretch. Regardless this album that album are both a mastapeice.

Portal beats this one. This one’s more experimental with the world music and violin stuff, which made me feel Portal was more focused.

In what world is Urn better than this? Can't beat the songwriting and all around epicness of Painters of the Tempest. Love all three of their records though.

Urn feels a lot more focused to me in comparison. Plus, it has "Eyrie," which is easily one of my favorite Ne Obli cuts.
