Given Up has some of the best screams in LP's discog, just as one example.

"MTM was political"
because being political means it's better

I'll explain.
Hybrid theory was more teen angst, but MTM had a much more emo feel in the music itself.

"but if u want tell me what's the ~novelty~ about linkin park "
im pretty sure its agreeable that linkin park are the pinnacle of 2000s angst, or at the very least, they're one of the leading in the "edgy" punchline people use now and days. Im not saying theyre bad songs, as I clearly stated "select songs" but a lot of it is pretty cheesy angsty stuff that I consider a novelty like most nu-metal rap/rock whatever the hell.

Living Things was everything Linkin Park could have done wrong put into one album.
Electronic rave beats, terrible lyrics, tons of filler, short tracks, bad production

Living Things had some interesting developmental ideas, I especially love the more solemn songs like Roads Untraveled and Powerless and Castle of Glass to an extent... but then songs like Lies Greed Misery exist.

Honestly, even though I disagree with Cl0ver's statement pretty heavily, I understand where he's coming from in regards to LP's rep.
@Blacklight: But half of Living Things wasn't even remotely like that, Castle of Glass, Roads Untraveled, Victimized, did we even listen to the same album?

What. I mean i'm not native english speaker, but i'm pretty sure novelty means something new/innovative. I agree with what u said now, i guess i misunderstand you :/. I also can see LP being "novel" , but with bands like Rage Against the Machine and already tons of nu metal bands existing it hardly was anything that new even back then

half of it was, however, and that half stunts the promising growth that some of the slower songs on the record had. i dont hate it as much as most people, but its a bit of a dud.

@adr, ah yea. Novelty also has the implication that its charming or cute or enjoyable, but in the long run it doesn't offer much. Thus the phrase "novelty songs" exist for the meme song that pops up every year like Gangnam Style or Harlem Shake or even stuff like Mambo No. 5, Who Let The Dogs Out, and Cha Cha Slide.

Living Things was a 3. was okay and got me semi pumped with Victimized but it was too poppy and had some silly shit
ATS was really interesting but had way too many duds. really love all the "W' tracks though
MTM was kinda boring, and Hands Held High is prob the worst song they have ever made
Meteora was great when I was 8 havent heard it in full for awhile but it was basically HT 2.0
HT was great too and holds a lot of nostalgic value for me but again I was young

Honestly the only thing on Living Things that annoyed me was "Lies, Greed, and Misery", that song could have been left out entirely and it would have helped the album.
