weird to think this is 10 years old - still probably the most disappointing album i ever listened to

i keep having these experiences with it where i think it's pulling me in and that it'll 'click' then i'll just be sucked right out of it again. on one hand i do admire how thematically it's totally different from anything else they ever did but it's just void of anything to latch onto.

i've been doing a reassessment of their discography - used to think marrow was their best but as i grew as a musician myself i ended up noticing a lot of issues in marrow. i still love it but it's definitely not their best. kinda ironic that the album i believe to be their best is the one the band hates the most (ashes). pale folklore close second.

Wonder if we'll see any new stuff from these guys soon now that they are back at it with touring.

Agreed this album is still pretty bad.

i would be very surprised if we didn't get a new agalloch record at some point - i think don is still working on another sculptured record so i expect it'll be after that. that's speculative though.

maybe i'll have my new record out before that - time will tell

I will 100% take a new ethereal shroud album over new agalloch

I want another Pillorian more than a new Agalloch at this point

yeah that pillorian record was cool, so was the khorada record but i know that one was more polarizing. i liked both equally for different reasons and i'd be happy with new albums from either project rather than a new agalloch.

Didn't realize they were back together. New album would be pretty cool I guess.

I would hope that if they put out something new, it would be because they really felt like they were confident in what they had. Serpent and the Sphere was audio gridlock, and they have no shortage of creative outlets these days

honestly this album wasn't bad, it was just disappointing as a farewell album. It doesn't do anything new. But it's an enjoyable Agalloch record in a vacuum
