"As a whole, this album is a mess. There's no real direction or overall feel to the album that pieces all the songs together. This is, in fact just a collection of songs.

Some of the songs have immediate urgency and some extremely powerful vocal melodies. Jesse Lacey does his best to be deep as he can, and deep he is, but is it really important? The instrumentation and production is muddy and the instruments aren't as important as Lacey. The guitars are amateur, the drums boring, the bass unheard.

An average release, Jesse you'll never be Jeff Mangum.

2.5/5"

....don't even get me started.. -_-

You know, for some reason I doubt that when Jesse writes, he thinks to himself "Oh boy! I hope I can be just like Jeff Mangum when I get older!"

There are few similarities between the music of the two, if any at all. If you listen to Brand new expecting Neutral Milk Hotel, well you're an idiot.

I can remember that part, it goes, "I used to know the name of every person I kissed, Now I've made this bed...and I can't fall asleep in it".

That's a great song.

Makes me feel like a double rainbow! =D

I want the lyrics to this tidily contained in a pocket-sized book that I can look to for counsel when the going gets rough

Is it in you now?
To hear the truth that you have spoken?
Twisted up by knaves
To make a trap for fools

Couldn't agree more!

It's so weird to me how this album feels fresh even after hearing it 382472398478239748923749832 times.

Yeah (Sowing Season) is one of the better rock songs ever. I wish it was more concise though. Then it would ring more true to the art form.
