"melodeath always sucked anyway" considering that this one has been awesome so far. On it now. I have some issues with vocals but overall all tracks hooked me some way. can't say the same about their new one though.

'This album is like the OSDM nerd's kryptonite i love it'

I've only been listening to DM for 18 months & even I can tell this isn't very good & it's nothing to do with the historical context (or whatever), I just don't enjoy listening to it.

Andy LaRocque's solo on Cold is the best thing about this album and virtually nothing else.

It's definitely one of the highest points of the album, but the rest of the album is still full of good riffs. I mean yeah it's not as good as their early stuff but I still think people are way too harsh on this.

I love all their early stuff but idk I just love this even more even though I know that’s kind of an unpopular opinion around here.

I used to like this one the best, but the more I listened to their early stuff the more it grew on me. With Fear... is easily my favorite At the Gates record. Most people tend to go for Red Sky or this, but something about With Fear just clicks with me more than the others.

I love all their stuff from Gardens of Grief through Slaughter though. Which reminds me, I still need to jam the new album.

I mean you can’t go wrong with any of them. I think nostalgia has a lot to do with why I love this so much too tbh.

this thread is like an alternate universe in which Slaughter of the Soul isn't the only ATG album 99% of metalheads care about

To clarify, I was speaking about the group who actually does care about At the Gates' other albums lol.

A lot of fans of Gardens/Red Sky tend to hate on Slaughter and for whatever reason seem to neglect With Fear...Of course, that doesn't apply to everyone. And then obviously there's the people you're talking about, who only care about Slaughter and maybe Terminal but haven't bothered to check out anything else, or don't like their other stuff. Seems fairly uncommon for people to actually like all of their albums.
