I honestly am not a huge fan of Xasthur or DSBM as a whole for that matter.

I love Xasthur, I think he gets a really bad rep.

"suicide is nice"
It's hard to find good stuff in DSBM. Mediocre subgenre.

does anybody remember that dude who posted a list promoting his DSBM project one time, and his entire discog was the same riff with drums that were playing at a completely different tempo

I agree dude, definitely not worth the 4.5 average. And yes, I think maybe

Pale Folklore is undoubtedly my fav Agalloch, but it's always so hard to decide if I like this or The Mantle more. All 3 are absolutely fucking perfect for me.

Had to throw the headphones back in and give this a listen before bed. m/

The Mantle is my undisputed favorite. The clean guitar tones on that record give me chills every time I hear them.

No arguing there brother. I love them all so much, even Marrow and Serpent just to a little bit of a lesser extent.

Marrow's #2 for me. I really like the aggressive stylings of Painted Grey and how it contrasts with the slow-burning build of Black Lake. It's just a really easy listen, and feels more crisp and fresh than this. I think the extra use of synthesizer and softer guitar tone on this takes that away for me.
