Album sounds like it was made in a world of needles and dirt and jagged rocks

Haha, awesome description. Kinda reminded me of that graphic novel Old Man Logan.

I always got that impression from the artwork. Very fitting

Never heard of that man. My graphic novel knowledge begins and ends with Watchmen

Which also rules. Think of a desolate post apocalyptic world, where death runs rampant and 90% of superheroes are dead. Wolverine is like a Clint Eastwood type wanderer and the hulk was over exposed to radiation and eats people. Awesome stuff. This record is a fitting soundtrack.

Oh a marvel release, sweet

Yeah that actually sounds pretty rad, might have to check it out. Been planning on reading more graphic novels since i read watchmen for the first time like a year ago

Yeah, it's pretty nihilistic stuff, if you liked the dark themes of Watchmen, then that is a great follow-up. Also, this guy Bendis did an incredible run on Daredevil. Really gritty crime-noir type stuff, also in the vein of Watchmen, so that's highly recommended.

Never felt it was terrible, but for ages I thought it was one of the weaker in their discography.

I hated this style for the longest time 5+ years ago or so. Finally got into this band with Axe To Fall, and it opened the door for hardcore for me.

Part of it may be a nostalgia thing, though I'm not entirely sure. I think both You Fail Me and All We Love We Leave Behind are better than this. Again, that may be because I heard those first and immediately connected with them afterwards. This is the record that took me the longest to appreciate (save everything that came after it.)

I think this is a harder listen than Axe to Fall - it's still intense as hell and has some fantastic songs, but is softer in it's approach than this. It's like preparing a pineapple - it's hard work and there's easier alternatives, but when you break through it's worth it.
