I finally listened to Boxer and Trouble will Find Me, but this is hands down way better. The sonic textures and electronic sounds makes their sound much more interesting. Don't get me wrong those other albums were good but a little overrated IMO.

Hearing this first I can definitely see viewing it as better than Boxer

No way is this anywhere near Boxer's level. Close to Trouble though. Alligater=Boxer for 1 and 2.

Tbh all of their albums since Alligator have been so fucking good, why even argue about the minutiae.

I really hope this isn't their last, and once again, this will be interesting to reappraise if and when they release a new one.

Why would this be their last? In any case a new album won't come out until next decade given how long each one takes, which makes sense given how high quality each one is, and the other projects of the band members.

They’re no spring chickens, could imagine them splitting any time. Hopefully not of course.

Their discog at this point is more than enough quality content to last me a lifetime personally, but if they keep up the quality forever and ever Im not gonna complain.

I dunno if the kids are getting more sophisticated or what but I've watched four episodes of Bob's Buggery and I haven't so much as smiled :/

Still, god bless The National, that was pretty cute.

Is it supposed to be laugh out loud funny or more comfort food like The Simpsons?

Its sort of like King of the Hill to me. Its rarely outright laugh inducing, but its entertaining and amusing nonetheless.
