So are Deftones a mainstream/radio rock band or not? I personally never really heard them on the radio (its pretty rare to actually here a fucking band using traditional instruments on the airwaves where i live).

I dunno man. Radio is shit where I live; no one plays them on the air here.

I remember hearing Diamond Eyes when that album came out and Swerve City a fair amount. And also Change quite a bit, but that's about it I think.

Man thats why i actively avoid the radio..until i'm stuck listening to it at work (part time retail job) and end up hearing the same 8 songs repeatedly roughly 16 times each over the course of my 8 hour shift. I'd wear earplugs/heaphones but i've got to be able to hear the fkn phone ring.

I've heard "Diamond Eyes," "Change," "Tempest" and "My Own Summer" on the radio, plus "Minerva" on Music Choice if that counts
MIGHT have heard "You've Seen the Butcher" and "Swerve City" as well

Don't like Michael Bublé´s music either, but it's still pretty cool that he tweeted them and liked the album.

"Back to School" and "Change" were all over VH1 or whatever it was at the time
there was a brief period where nu-metal wasn't this sad joke scene in the eyes of society
i saw Linkin Park on Top of the Pops

Hybrid Theory still gets a sneaky spin every now and then when no ones around.
L.D.50 is a killer album too

This would benefit from a remaster, don't think the production has aged very well

The production does its job for this style. Some are complaining about how low in the mix Chino's voice is, but I think it sounds dreamy and fitting for what they're playing. This is their lightest album after all.

Sadly haven't heard any deftones on my local rock radio, all I hear on mine is Metallica, Linkin Park, and a SHIT TON of Alice in Chains.

I like Chino's vocals here but the way the guitars sound has really started bugging me. The album is compressed to a pretty absurd degree despite not even being the loudest mixed album they've done. In fact, the past two albums are louder yet sound much more crisp and not as muddy.
That said, I do really like the songs here. Obviously not the best Deftones has done but the album stands on it's own very well.
