"can't wait for my copy of UTQC to come so I can have a Flylo listening marathon"
I did that the other week, I love having all his LP's on wax. Now I gotta start tracking down all the EP's

Get the 180 gram Deluxe edition if there's any left/you can spare the money, it sounds sooooo much better than the regular press I couldn't believe it when I heard my friends normal copy, I felt bad for him

It doesn't sound bad or anything, the 180g just sounds better because, well, it's better quality vinyl. Heavier = better in the wax world
|

Weight of the vinyl has nothing to do with sound quality beyond anything more than just something negligible

Whoa crazy

Lol Dev, alright buddy

Sorry, but you're deluded if you think that the weight of a vinyl somehow produces better sounding quality. It's preferential when tracking, but quality comes from mastering (which is also where groove depth is set). That, and proper pressing and plating are the only things that contribute to sound quality. Weight isn't a factor

Heavier, thicker vinyl gives room for deeper grooves which = better sounding vinyl. I'm glad I finally got you to come out from under the sheep for a couple posts though

^ But Dev is right in that the mastering itself is the biggest factor for a good vinyl sound. Deeper groover just make tracking easier, so skips and such are diminished.

Anyways, I have FlyLo's stuff on CD so I can blast it in my car.

Im well aware that there is wayyyyy more to quality sound than the vinyl weight, but in the end it makes it easier for a better sounding record. The second Dev stops thinking I don't know anything about anything is when we will finally be able to coexist in peace, which will probably be never

Sorry man, didn't mean to get you riled up. It just happens that most of my best sounding records are thinner ones (my Steely Dan's from the 70s), and some 180 ones I have don't sound all that good (my Talk Talk album).
