I have yeah, not really my thing either. Neo-folk isn't really any more my cup of tea than black metal, bar a couple of exceptions.

Ah okay, just curious. Is there any bm you're fond of?

I do quite like Bergtatt and I like Agalloch's Ashes Against the Grain, although granted that's not really a black metal album as such. I like some stuff that's often classed as first wave black metal, although to my ears most of that's just raw thrash/death metal.

Yeah I would agree, first wave black metal is more of an era than a genre. I've heard a lot of good things about Agalloch and never given them a listen, I should really do that.

The concept of people jamming Agalloch without having heard the classics first is even harder to wrap my head around but it happens.

That's pretty cool, and tbh I think it's a great thing that the more accessible bands become a gateway into the rougher stuff.

Definitely and I don't complain. I just feel that listening to the popular stuff only, as great as they may be, doesn't allow one to have a more complete opinion towards the genre he/she enjoys. The same applies for those who jam exclusively the classics, of course.

Agalloch is not black metal. However this album is pure evil stuff.
