that whole song is awesome though. vox and then solo are really good. 4th best after GoP / Harlequin / Baying. then after HoW comes Conjuration and Beneath the Mire

@Emyay The top 3 you mentioned have a very similar vibe, all great songs. Rating songs from a great album is a b*tch :P. Yeah HoWs second half took some getting used to with the abrupt change, especially considering how incredible the opening 2 minutes are, but I enjoy it now. BtM's jazzy mid section is terrific, I think I might have to listen to this album now :-D.

Yeahhhhhh Ghost of Perdition is my personal favorite track on this album, but my only complaint is that it's too good for an opener aha I think it would have been better as a later track

lol

Eh, tried listening to Heritage again to make sure I don't like it...still don't like it too much :/, such a shame because on paper Opeth going full prog actually sounds kind of nice considering Watershed felt so forced with the metal parts

Damnation wasn't really 70s prog lmao

Damnation was acoustic but it wasn't as proggy. I'm kind of bias because metal is my favorite genre and Akerfeildt is one of my favorites when it comes to death vocals so I'll always be kind of meh about his lack of metal in future releases but I really hope the prog is more like Ghost Reveries and less like Heritage

Yeah, it was purely mellow and had progressive elements. Heritage is more balanced

Except Snorlax. Heritage direction if improved, should be a good album.

Storm Corrosion? Never heard of it, but will do - currently listening to Diamond Eyes by Deftones for the first time, I'll listen to that afterwards
