i would mostly agree that the majority of bdm doesn't really feel as sophisticated as this. maybe it's as technical but not as nuanced and the songwriting rarely matches up

yeh i don't think i could call most deeds/disgorge/disentomb/bdm bands with names beginning with the letter "d" simple. but they don't generally have as carefully managed flow and dynamics

I mean, i dont blame someone for thinking that. The entire website shit on the entire genre for who knows how long and I fell into it for a long time too. It was just embedded in sput culture that bdm was shit. That's starting to change and people are recognizing that the genre has merit, which is great imo.

I must admit that Sput's general attitude towards the genre completely put me off even checking bands with the 'brutal' tag. Which is kind of pathetic, now I think about it.
