When I listen to the a,bum, I like to listen to the original version but when I listen to individual songs I like to listen to the US Remixes of them

Idk man I have Apple Music so I'm able to listen to both the original mix of the album and the US Remix for the album. You'll know if you're listening to the original if the bass guitar on the songs is louder in the mix than the guitar in most songs and if you're listening to the US Remix, the bass is much lower (but still audible) in the mix

Archives of Pain has to be one of the more underrated tracks. I love playing the bass line.

The solo on Archives of Pain is probably the best solo on the entire album. James is such an underrated guitarist and this entire album proves that

This album transcends anything that came out of the 90s alt rock fad. Especially when you dig into the band and album's story at this time point of time

goddamn sometimes i just cannot understand what this dude is saying, which usually doesn't bug me at all but with lyrics like these it kinda does. i feel like the way he bends the words to fit into his melodies kind of obscures his enunciations sometimes

it's just his Welsh accent and yeah it's a common complaint with this album. for me it just makes reading the lyrics more of an experience

also in fairness to the guy, Richey would often just write and write with very little thought for rhythm or melody, and James and Sean would have to create choruses that fit these insane words in. they did a fucking incredible job of translating the lyrics into listenable songs without losing the rawness

ALA you don't need to understand every sentence or reference here to enjoy the album - Bradfield uses that clipped punk delivery to try and shoehorn Richey's lyrics in because they are so unwieldy but I think he does a great job. I prefer his vocals here to his 'proper singing' on later albums
