I was around 22 when I heard this album for the first time but I don't think any of my friends saw them live until like 10 years later, so yeah around that time. I think the first time for many of them was Roadburn, which I obviously and miserably missed.

I still stand by my statement that The Last You'll Know is one of their best songs, and easily the best Neurosis song that no one ever talks about

Jamming this one again too. This is the Neurosis album I'd heard the most before their newest one, but I haven't listened to it in probably a decade. Listening now m////

This discog run has been really interesting so far. Souls went up from a 4.5 to a 5, Through Silver in Blood went from 4.5 to 5, and this went down from a 4.5 to a 4. At some point I had this as my only Neurosis 5, so I really wasn't expecting to bump it down again.

I agree. Not even sure what I'd rate this now. This one has the riffs but lacks the really cool atmospheric keyboard/sample layers and I'm not sure if that's due to the Tribes of Neurot album you're supposed to play at the same time or what. Those layers are what turn 4s into 5s for this band. Could also be Albini's production wasn't as dangerous as the earlier albums.
