But I don't understand why you wouldn't? Like the guitar sound is absolutely huge and they have two of the best riff writers in metal behind the axes. I'd go as far as to say if you like straight-up heavy metal you should de jure like this album. I feel like your criticism could be applied to any number of awesome old metal bands who wrote simple riff-based music but it doesn't make them any less classic or headbangable

I dunno, I'm just not amazed by any of the riffs here - whereas on a Pantera, Kyuss, hell maybe even a COC album I'll fall big time for at least a few.



This isn't a 3/5 album where half the songs are 4.5 and half are 2.5...it's just wall to wall 3-3.5 sorta songs for me. None of the riffs are bad...just none of them make me want to drop my pants and yank the plank.

Tbf as Devs biggest defender I could see how people might not like his tone/the accent with which he sings





But yeah in terms of raw ability and conveying human emotion through vox I've never heard a singer that is even near to rivalling him. Phil is up there in my fave singers tho, love the passion he has (had)
