I used to love cannibal corpse but after listening to more unorthodox styles of death metal I find it extremely underwhelming and even soulless now. Their latest album was so mediocre. Their Chris Barnes records were quite good though.
I’d rather a death metal band that does unique and interesting things with their sound even if not executed well then a death metal band that copy and pastes the same album while having nothing that really stands out. Just feels so… corporate.
