"As a long time Opeth fan, Deliverance was one of the biggest letdowns of my life when it came out. Still don't ever spin it."

They had progressed so much up to that album. MAYH -> Still Life -> Blackwater Park -> Deliverance. It is one of the least, if not the least, interesting records they've ever recorded. I would never put it on over any record that came out before it. That being said I prefer it to everything that came after it (excluding Damnation). It's not a terrible record, but if I'm gonna jam Opeth it's not gonna be Deliverance.

Among the best executed Opeth tracks.

Just listen in order yeah. Best way to get the full experience of bands like this, Neurosis, etc.

It is impossible to dislike this album. 5 tracks that equal 1 hour? That's crazy but it works so well. You can't but wish it was longer.

To Bid You Farewell is the best Opeth song, arguably.

The acoustic parts in Black Rose Immortal are among Opeth's finest moments. The whole album is just amazing.

Agreed. Album just oozes a dark foresty atmosphere for me.

I go back to this album more than the rest of their discography.
