Pompeji is great. That ending is absolutely unreal

"Like how tf did they end up making that when they coulda made this?"
Let's just tell ourselves that they spend the better half of last decade working on this and that Gore was just a placeholder

it's always super interesting to see how band dynamics influence a finished product. Like they were all messes during SNW but it still turned out amazing, but the distance between them during Gore made it sound lifeless

Page 51 Alondite "This thing fucking BEGS for a legit Hi-Fi system. There are so many subtle nuances and small dynamic shifts and shit that are completely lost on less resolving gear.
I listened to this first on my phone with my in-ears, which are still quite good, and was feeling about a 4 for this...but then I got home and listened to it on my home rig and it's like a completely different record.
I'll never understand how people listen to music on shitty gear..."

In no way is this the worst deftones when gore and diamond eyes exist

The production on KNY and DE really hurt those records tbh. I wouldn’t say they’re amazing with terry but they would have certainly been much better
|

how can you put diamond eyes in the same bracket as gore smh

Still love both albums, though.

DE will always be peak Deftones for me. From start to finish it's super impressive, energetic and also just so much fun

Yeah both are 5s for me but that's always been my biggest gripe with them... just brickwalled to absolute hell, Sergio is inaudible, and Steph's tone is really thin and sounds like just some random Axe Fx preset. Then we all know how Gore turned out...
This one though... THIS ONE... terry date have my babies please
