I can (maybe) listen to 7 'new' albums per week, new to me that is, so not necessarily released in 2018. In fact I COULD do more but my listening time with headphones is precious to me & that's in limited supply.
There's so much older material I want to hear, so concentrating on that is the priority for me.

Yeah I totally understand, I usually fall short on listening to older stuff, I will probably reduce the supply of new releases starting next year but for now I want to see if I can pull it off until December.

Don't get me wrong, I'm jealous...
a) I love lists, so end of year stuff sounds fun
b) the most active threads are often the new & hyped releases (apart from the obvious Sput classics)
c) weekly recommendations & collaborating with others to find the best stuff sounds appealing, like your lists that I've noticed for the releases not covered by the site news articles
The biggest negative I can think of is that in effort to be comprehensive you probably end up listening to a lot of music that isn't very good, since hardly anyone will have vouched for the quality... more so than if you seek out classics etc. which sound personally appealing.

You are very correct my demon friend. It takes a bit of time to go through the (sometimes) hefty number of new releases but that's part of the fun for me, striking gold, and see people digging it too, that's a good feeling.
The end of year is fun too, I pit all those albums I've heard, get the top 10 for each month, etc, I mean, it's silly, but entertaining.

That does sound entertaining, I'm all for 'silly' personal competitions like that when music is involved, haha. When I get to 1,000 ratings I can see me doing a 'top 100 albums' list, just for the craic.

Yeah, I was looking at your ratings and saw very little that would suggest you'd enjoy it. Not saying it isn't possible but I doubt it's up your alley in what you look for.
