never seen 'em live : [ sadly. but I figured he'd use vocal effects to aid, reducing the necessity to go totally ham in the live setting. i know at least on old recordings he wouldn't fuck with it aside from maybe reverb

Now that you mention it, his screams do sound terribly improper. Kinda like that dude's from Emmure
|

Y'all would be bumping your ratings up if you just took my advice and add Eve as the closer.

Album Rating: 2.5
Considering Eve is a 3.5 song, probably not
|
| |
might raise it to a 3.1
|
| |
I will 1 it
|

"Considering Eve is a 3.5 song"
First off, rating songs is ridiculous.
Second, just wrong.
|
| |
how is it ridiculous to rate a song
I would love to know

Jake has by his own admission developed scar tissue on his vocal chords since at least the You Fail Me era (hence the big change in his voice from Jane to YFM)

"Poor technique" vocals are often the best because "proper technique" is about saving your voice, not sounding the best you can.
So a lot of scream vocalists sound great early in their careers and then switch styles to try and mitigate the damage done from "poorly" performed yet good sounding vox.

its sounds physically painful a lot of the time
so not so good

Nobody sounds good pulling their screams for the sake of longevity.
|
| |
I dont know, a lot of screamo where you hear the dude literally destroying his voice over the course of an album can be hard to listen to
does make for good performances tho

Saw them live last night for the first time, they sounded great. Jake surprised me honestly, he sounded absolutely ferocious during Under Duress. They played Concubine as an encore and it was nuts.
