Metal-junkies with no Indie Rock in their pie are digging this? I might give it a spin, or at least start with Alligator/Boxer... used to be a big Interpol fan back in the day & these guys might help revive a lost love.

@Mayhem I’m so with you that this is their best, I think the band really outdid themselves. And don’t worry it grows too haha

@Mayhem
Same, also a much more overtly emotional listen than I’m used to from them. Just seemed like they upped the potency

System, Carin, Nobody Else, and Guilty Party are top for me.

@Mayhem

Yeah I tend to start with the classic highly-rated albums so it makes sense.

this band is growing on me in general. relistened to boxer and it was way better than i remembered. checked high violet and TWFM and i preferred the latter but i feel like both will grow overtime

Their albums really dont stop growing. Thats the magic at the heart of The National, really. Some bands are worthy of one-night stands or even flings of infatuation, but this band is definitely the kind you put a ring on and introduce to your family.

I haven't actually showed anyone The National without them absolutely loving it. Just this past weekend I got my best friend's parents hooked on them.

"Yep, I believe that's called a 'great band'."

Nah man, Analepsy is a great band. The National are no less than gods among men.

After a little hiatus and now my return - this album is awesome. Still strangely sequenced, but that's never been their forte or interest. This is a Beast.

I never got into the singer's voice but seeing how well praised their discography is, I might give them another go.
