I think i,i has actually allowed me to enjoy 22 a bit more. Prefer the new one, think this style suits being succinct over ambling. I found 22 a bit self indulgent before but it’s got some cool moments. Who’d’ve thought?

^ Well put. agreements all around. i never cared much for this in the past but i've come to appreciate it more via iMi. I see a lot of people complaining that iMi is less accessible and bereft of hooks but I don't understand this criticism. I don't see the need for it to be filled with hooks, it's much more atmospheric and experimental than his older stuff. That said, there are definitely hooks and some really affecting melodies. A grower if ever there was one.

idk i've dropped it from a 4 to a 3, probably gonna fluctuate. the critiques are more compelling to me overall

I respect the new album more than I actually like it. I kind of get the same shallow/empty vibe from it that I get from the new National though, which is a little disheartening. I have it resting at a 4.3 though so lmao. Could see it drop a tad over time after the hype wears off.

Not as good as this or Big Red Machine, but i,i is solid and really picks up starting with Hey, Ma imo. Jelmore makes more sense in the context of the album, was a weird choice for a single. My favorite is Sh'Diah.

It'd be nice if his next album is a little more substantial and fleshed out like the s/t. Right now i,i is only slightly interior to the new National for me.

666 is a top 20 song of last decade for me. Neek you're the only one I ever see repping that song haha. Everyone else is talking about circle or apartments or some other lesser interesting track
