Didn't the band say they would be releasing an album every two years for now on? If they stay true to that then there should be a new album this year.
|
| |
wow its been 2 years already? fuck i remember hearing the announcements for this and seeing the list of guest features for the first time

"as drummer Rob Bourdon lays down an earth-shattering drum groove all around him."
He does a better job here than previous releases, but when there's drummers like Dave Lombardo, Tom Hunting, Mick Mason, and others still rocking out there, that's a silly statement.

"Didn't the band say they would be releasing an album every two years for now on? If they stay true to that then there should be a new album this year."
They've been posting on Facebook regularly in-studio process, and they've said that they will be releasing a new album this year.

'Just don't know why they can't keep the quality up for an entire album'
Despite what you may think of it, I'd argue that A Thousand Suns was the exception of this rule. It's easily their most consistent and strongest release since Hybrid Theory from a song-writing point of view.

For mainstream rock, Rob is a fuckin fantastic drummer. The fact that the drum take for "War" on this album was the first and only one is crazy

He is good, no doubt, but earth-shattering is plain silly.

i honestly never listened to this. LP used to be my favorite band so long ago and I even kinda liked Living Things when it came out but I just cant force myself to listen to this
oh nostalgia

Nowadays I find their stuff very hit or miss.
Hybrid Theory is still a piece of shit
Meteora is a decent alternative album that better emphasizes the band's chemistry
Minutes to Midnight is alright but the singles were overplayed to death (but the 18 second scream on Given Up never fails to make my jaws drop)
Already wrote a review on A Thousand Suns
Living Things is shit (especially with the god awful Rick Rubin production)
This album is not only LP's heaviest but also their most mature in terms of everyone's musicianship (although the production here nearly rivals Living Things which is shocking considering Rick's absence)

Hybrid and Meteora are overrated. I find MTM better but barely. I actually like A Thousand Suns. The only LP album worth a 3 imo. Living Things is garbage, and this is alright.

Minutes to Midnight is way better than its credited. It gets way too much backlash for being the album that changed their style and is a perfectly fine alt rock record.

MTM is fine at best, ATS is pretty good, the rest is mediocre or shit.
