as a music major you have to take a lot of classes just to be full time. i routinely took 8+ classes/ensembles/lessons per semester for my first 3 or 4 years. my boss always semi-jokingly suggests that i just quit school to work full-time but lol no. i'm a data analyst and i write the marketing stuff at work so it's usually pretty flexible, i just have to be in on weekdays because it's a real job.

yeah, that's right, i have many music major friends who find themselves with little spare time. those ensembles, etc. can be quite demanding

cool that you have a marketing job tho, how did you end up with it? I'll prob be in a similar field, I'm a management / marketing double major

i got hired as an intern in the summer of 2011 and they just didn't let me go at the end of the summer when most of the other interns left. i was originally just doing basic data entry but i started writing our newsletter at some point and now i basically write everything for them. i'm way underpaid though because i have no degree so they know i can't leave and make more, kind of a shit situation tbh. i'm applying for an internship at NPR this summer, fingers crossed.
