As background music while doing a task, this is excellent. It is way to long too listen to on a
regular basis, though. It just isn't practical, as it takes 2 hours to listen to this album.
As I was listening to The Seer I was thinking about how time management in music is important. Sure,
the ending of the the title track is cathartic, but was it necessary for 25 minutes to be used for the
buildup? Five to eight minutes of buildup of the title track would have given pretty much the same
experience as the full 30 minute version. I noticed that past a certain point you get to that "lost in
the music" state, and for me, that happened pretty early in the song. After that, everything else was
just unnecessary and redundant.

"The greatest creations in life were never viewed as practical in their time."
Fire, Writing, Printing Press, steam engine (NOT THE ANCIENT GREEK MODEL OBVIOUSLY CAUSE WE DIDN'T FIND THAT OUT TILL AFTER), nukes, vaccination, penicillin, firearms... like seriously most things were viewed as practical immediately.

Read the rest of my comment, I added some stuff. It isn't practical because the same experience can be
achieved in less minutes.
Sideburn, I am on that full listen right now. I'm at A Piece of the Sky.

we only went to the moon because it was practical and we stopped going as soon as it was unpractical.

In case you missed it as I added some stuff to that comment:

yeah the album does a good job of being completely listenable with good placement of "easier" tracks like The Daughter Brings the Water

Neither of you are really responding to my argument about redundancy. I didn't say I had a problem
listening to this, I just noticed that a lot of it seemed too redundant. Longer tracks can put the
mind in a trance but then the argument is, is being in a trance for 30 minutes really that much better
than the same experience for 15 minutes? I'd rather use less time for the same experience for normal
music listening. However, as background music, you can make the title track longer than 30 minutes,
because you aren't really focused on having fun with the music but rather letting it mix with your
mind as you rest or do a task.

Well there is not much to argue with, I guess it just comes down to how long you can find that kind of thing interesting.

It's difficult to answer you (and you don't know how much it pains me to say this) but you're going about this album all wrong, looking for the wrong things

TrantaLocked, I feel that the long build-up in the title track has enough variation to let the experience be enhanced continually. I do feel that the ensuing harmonica destruction could have been kept shorter to the same effect, though, and I could say the same for the intro to A Piece of the Sky.
I will say, however, that the redundancy is not much of a problem regarding my appreciation of the whole album. I can keep on being focused in those moments, and do not mind the experience lasting perhaps longer than it "should" as it does not affect the impact of new sections to my ears.
