I mean, if you think that this is the be all, end all of tech death and are still convinced that these guys communicate to a higher God with their supposed classical music structures and note orientation, you shouldn't be listening to metal...PERIOD!

Love how polarizing this album is. One of the easier 5s for me, songwriting and playing is entirely off the charts.

nah, most shred is simply riffing and soloing for the sake of riffing and soloing. an emotionless, mechanical guitar masturbation. Idk maybe it's impressive from a technical standpoint but if I want me some passionate (guitar) masturbation I go to Yngwie and not those modern guitar-fap-machines.

You know you have an anti-recency bias when you're unfavourably comparing SoP to Yngwie because latter apparently had "passion" when he was crankin' it

Heavily agree, even well into the '90s with stuff like Forever is a Long Time and Vengeance. Spawn of Possession is GOATed tho.

Irrelevant but Brys >

I will also pay many of my dollars to read Alko differentiate an emotional, passionate wank from a sterile Cyberpunk 2077 sexbot wank (in musical critique form, obv)

you know you're a besserwisser when you can draw detailed conclusions about someones taste from a general statement while being passive aggressive.
